Call of Duty: Ghosts is the next big installment in Activision’s shooter franchise. Infinity Ward revealed the first details and footage of the multiplayer mode today at an event in Los Angeles. They include a laundry list of changes that I find to be extremely compelling. Knowing that they face fierce competition from the upcoming Battlefield 4 game, they really stepped it up.
They have 3 new modes now.
Search and Rescue – Finally you’ll get a chance to revive fallen teammates in battle, something that has been available to Battlefield players for years.
Cranked – I call this the anti-camper mode. You get temporary boosts after a kill, but also the clock starts ticking down to your demise unless you get another kill. How do you die? EXPLOSION!
I’m extremely excited about
Squad Mode: You can create 10 soldiers that form your “squad.” You can play in this mode solo, co-op, or competitive and your squad can be “challenged” even while you’re not playing, earning you experience. Squad mode is broken down into:
Squad vs Squad – your basic player vs. player, pitting your squad against someone else’s
Wargame – Pick five of your squad mates to battle against AI
Safeguard – Four player co-op mode
Squad Assault – Six player squads can take-on offline squads
There’s also clans that can be formed now which will allow you to form a clan or join one. You can also participate in Clan Wars where you battle over territory.
As a Battlefield fan, I’m going to have to make a hard decision this fall. Here’s some gameplay video.
